Traffic cone sneakers
Ankle derby made with veg-tan leather and cone material.
Premise
Strip a repurposed material from its current associations and preconceptions. Create a shoe that is recognizable as its own singular style.
I wanted something that catches the eye, can be worn at most occasions, and tells a story. I started by looking closely at a construction cone, and noticing the drip pattern at the bottom of the shoe.
Working on the aesthetic concept of the shoe, and the pattern for the upper out of vegtan leather.
I wanted to create a world of flashy red and oranges to contrast with the creamy craft. In this world, roaring tigers plunge into the molten plastic of the sneaker's soles.
